Most Inclusive Dining in the Dark Experience

Description
Welcome to the Most Inclusive Dining in the Dark experience event.

About Guide Dogs Singapore:

The Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS) was founded with the mission to help the visually impaired enhance the quality of life. To this end, they have focused on providing mobility training to the blind or visually impaired and pair suitable candidates with Guide Dogs.

GDS is a social service charity formed in 2006 and has trained six guide dogs and paired with six handlers since 2011.

GDS aims to raise $100,000 which would be used to train 20 people with visual impairment to travel a new set of route independently.

About Beyond I

Beyond I is a ground-up initiative made by youth for youth to learn more about the visually impaired and guide dogs in Singapore. We are proud to be partnering with Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS) with the support of National Youth Council (NYC) and funding from Our Singapore Fund (OSF). We aim to raise awareness for the visually impaired community in Singapore, instill empathy and foster positive attitude towards inclusivity among Singaporeans.

About Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd

The Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS) was founded with the mission to help the visually impaired enhance their quality of life. To this end, we focus on providing mobility training to the blind or visually impaired, and pair suitable candidates with Guide Dogs.

Our new logo shows the close relationship between the person, a guide dog and a white cane, the two cornerstones of our programmes which allow our clients to move independently to participate in the community. The slogan “Enabling The Visually Impaired” reflects our values to provide people with visual impairment with life skills that enable them to be self-sufficient.

We are a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation, and have been accorded Charity status by the Commissioner of Charities. Furthermore, we are registered with the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) as an associate member and we hold an Institute of Public Character status.

Today, we are committed to making further inroads for Guide Dog access with building owners, food establishments and regulators, because it is our firm belief that Guide Dogs can be an even better help and companion for the visually impaired if they are better integrated into society.
